Fun Things To Do This Fall To Kindle the Flame
Halloween romance is just what the doctor ordered to rekindle your relationship. If you haven’t done anything novel or fun lately with your significant other, take a queue from this post and make some cozy memories.
Experts say that when a couple does new things together it triggers the release of oxytocin and reestablishes the relationship as exciting. New experiences can get us out of conversational habits and monotony, fire up our senses by exploring, and make us feel young again. The Fall is a great time to get out there and explore with your main squeeze!
Visit a Pumpkin Patch or Farm
If you have children, this is a no-brainer to-do event for the season. But you may not have thought about doing a date at a pumpkin patch farm in Autumn. This is a great place to go on a cozy Fall evening with your love. A simple Google search in your area should reveal a plethora of places to go. Where I live in Kentucky, there’s at least 5 farms within a 25 mile radius putting on amazing fall events.
Find a farm that has a little market to shop and fire pits and live music. You can ride an evening hayride under the moon and stars, drink hot cocoa and get some grub, sit by fires and watch children run around, and play some fun games that are not just for the kids.
At a farm I just visited, there was a basketball hoop attached to a piece of old farm equipment for participants of any age. Find one with a corn maze and have fun evoking your inner child with each other! Another farm I visited had an area for zombie paint ball. How fun!

Take a Hike for Halloween Romance
If you’re lucky enough to live in a part of the country that has sharply changing seasons, get outside. Soak up the vibrance of changing leaves and smell the fresh air of Fall. Google best hikes in your state and take a day trip, stopping at small towns along the way, especially ones that have farm stands. It’s the harvest season so enjoy this once a year farming event in little towns across America.
For Ohio and Kentucky, there’s a great website called Only In Your State that lists great places to see in yours. Do a Sunday brunch one day and plan the following weekend’s adventure. Nothing like an event to look forward to together to stimulate those love hormones!
Decorate Your Porch and Carve Pumpkins
Who says you have to go out to have an amazing Halloween romance? If you’re a homebody like me, this idea will suite your nature. Fall is a great time to put on a pot of stew, kindle a fire, and hang out at home. You can make it special by building an entire day around decorating your porch, yard, or house for Halloween.
Over breakfast, discuss your ideas for how to decorate things. It’s a good idea to order on Amazon or already have décor in house before the date. Plan to make a meal together such as a crock pot Thai pumpkin soup or chili.
Assemble the decorations, get crafting if that’s required for the set up, and play some fun music. Share memories of your childhood Halloweens or your favorite movies to watch this season (you can watch one as a finale to the date). And remember the importance of little touches like a random hug or show of appreciation to really make your partner feel bonded with you.
Once all is decorated, share a glass of wine and hor’dourves before your delicious meal that you made. Make a great date at home simply by planning things to do and setting a good intention to connect.
The Halloween Romance of a Haunted House
Tis the season for willingly scaring the you-know-what out of you! What a fun way to make a lasting memory with your partner, especially if this is something the two of you would likely not normally do.
If so, the sheer bravery and absurdity of attending one is alone a good idea for a date as you’re setting yourselves up to see one another in a new light and will bond over trying something new together.
Maybe seeing a haunted house absolutely isn’t your thing. But consider it this way: it’s an opportunity to get out of your comfort zone and be comforted by that sexy mate of yours. Plan a nice dinner afterwards to talk about the spooky adventure together and know the Halloween romance will shine!
And realize that since you’ll most likely be clinging to each other in the house, it’s a great way to physically connect (especially good for those who’s love language is physical touch!)
Dress Up and Pass Out Candy Together
This one is obviously super simple. On Halloween, just dress up together and pass out candy! Enjoy those wild-eyed trick-or-treaters and the cool air of Autumn. Put out a firepit in the front yard and make merry with your neighborhood together. Part of the fun in this one is getting super creative together about your costumes.
Pick a theme and nail it! Be the talk of the street. Make some cozy cocktails and finger foods to share and relish in this once-a-year event. Doing something involving giving, like passing out candy, feels good and can draw you two closer. Just have fun celebrating this beloved and weird event.
Haunted Tours
Depending on where you live, there is probably a haunted tour in your town. These gigs have reached popularity in the past decade as people love a good ghost story. Discover what your city has to offer in this regard or plan a day trip to the closest town that has one.
Google tours with positive reviews and plan to build an entire day around it. Do some research together, learn about the history of the city. Plan to dine out and stop off at a nice bar afterwards so you can gush all about the tour with one another, even if it wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.
A haunted tour is a great way to learn some fascinating history as well as have a lot of fun. If you do travel to a neighboring city for one, consider renting a hotel and making a weekend getaway around it.
Halloween Romance and Beyond
Remember that variety is the spice of life. Even though you may be comfortable with your significant other, it doesn’t mean the thrill has to die. Creating novel experiences is key to keeping some flavor in the relationship and having things to look forward to.
With a bit of planning and creative thinking, you can stoke the fires of your love every season. Let me know what your Halloween romance ideas are and how you keep the fire alive in your relationship!
